The art of democratic leadership - simplexity
Dr Paul Thomas, BBC Wales Business Doctor
Paul’s keynote session will discuss the reasons why current management thinking is arguably failing organisations as it is suited for a business world which no longer exists. Such outdated thinking in turn reinforces poor performance and stifles creativity. It is Paul’s belief that “simplexity” will give us the best insights we can get into the nature of organisational behaviour – making it more human, resilient and passion-driven.
Drawing on over 12 years’ experience of both academic research and enabling change in real-world businesses, Paul will suggest that putting the ‘Human-mess’ back into leadership is vital for creating sustainable, robust organisations with healthy and committed employees. He is that rare thing – a charismatic speaker who combines cutting-edge research into company development with extensive management experience in both the private and public sectors.
Paul is the founder of the consultancy firm DNA Definitive and has featured in the BBC Radio Wales documentary series “The Business Doctor” where he explored how changing the mindset of business can enhance organisational sustainability through the empowerment of frontline staff.
