CIMSPA endorses Oxford Brookes degrees

Three degrees have been awarded the CIMSPA kitemark

This month we have endorsed Oxford Brookes University’s three sporting degrees in line with our employer-led professional standard.

The degrees are:

As a higher education partner, the university is working with the sector’s chartered professional body to further enhance the employability of sports students.

Helen Hiley, Education Officer for Higher Education at CIMSPA, said: “We want to create a respected and regulated sector. As many begin their journey at university, understanding their degree is endorsed against employer-led professional standards is continually important. Our partnership with Oxford Brookes University will be strengthened thanks to these degree endorsements.”

Head of Sport Coaching Sciences at Oxford Brookes University, Dr Peter Wright, said: “The new CIMSPA qualifications are an integral part of our employability strand at Oxford Brookes University. Embedding vocational qualifications are not just a positive addition, but have a key function in our strategic development. This is predominantly in the context of future employment of graduates in the very broad spectrum of health, rehabilitation, sport science and coaching.”

“CIMSPA qualifications aid our outreach activities and interaction with the work placements and additional services and even certain research activities where qualified students can lead or be employed as intervention leads. Hence, having these qualifications is a major component of our degrees and development as a department with multiple benefits and synergies.”

CIMSPA Higher Education Partners are part of CIMSPA’s sector wide engagement involving over 500 employer partners, awarding organisation partners and training provider partners.
