CIMSPA enters partnership with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS)

We are committed to supporting young people in the sector and supporting talent pathways.

That’s why we’re happy to announce our new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BUCS, who are launching their 2020 Student Leadership Programme with CIMSPA’s backing.

BUCS works with its member institutions to get more students active more often, through traditional competitive sport and providing physical activity opportunities.

The leadership programme will develop and enhance students’ leadership skills and qualities. Ultimately, it will be the next step in their personal and professional development.

Working with CIMSPA and Sporting People, the programme will:

Provide them with the understanding, skills and attributes needed to be successful, in existing student leadership roles and future employment prospects.

Enhance their skill sets and develop graduate attributes to aid their future career prospects.

Help them to identify and understand their own personal strengths and weaknesses.

Highlight areas of personal and professional development.

Under the agreement BUCS will now work with CIMSPA to align the programme’s content to employer-led professional standards.

CIMSPA will also work to support BUCS Members through access to CIMSPA’s services, and in return students will be made aware of our work.

CIMSPA’s Director of Strategy, Spencer Moore, said:

“All students in the BUCS leadership programme will be given CIMSPA student membership and access to a range of further online e-learning. With the CIMSPA and BUCS’s agreement, this programme will be a high-quality learning experience for the students involved.

“This partnership coincides with our new higher education campaign that seeks to expand our higher education partnerships to every university in the UK providing sport and physical activity courses.”

Matt Holdstock, Senior Development Manager at BUCS, said:

“It’s fantastic to be working in partnership with CIMSPA on the BUCS Student Leadership programme. The added value provided will supplement the content, learning and delivery of the programme to students. The programme will enhance the leadership skills and attributes of high performing student leaders within university sport and it is an extremely positive step that BUCS and CIMSPA are collaborating to develop the future leaders within sport and physical activity sector.”
