CIMSPA hosts successful AGM

More CIMSPA members than ever before came together to find out more about our work and progress in the last year

Following electronic voting members have approved David Monkhouse FCIMSPA and Dr Jon Argent FCIMSPA to be their elected board trustees for the next three years.

We would like to thank everyone for their interest in the elected board trustee role and encourage anyone wanting to get involved in CIMSPA’s governance structure to check our website for future board and committee roles.

  • In addition to the vote, Tara Dillon (CEO, CIMSPA) gave a whistle-stop tour of our progress over the last year:
  • We now have 286 Training Provider Partners, 170 Employer Partners, and 29 Higher Education Partners. There are now 1312 endorsed CPD courses, 110 endorsed qualifications, and 80 endorsed degrees.
  • When facilities closed across the country, we had to pivot the business to support the sector during the pandemic. This led to the launch of our Stronger Together campaign, which has since hosted over 40 Facebook Live webinars with thousands of viewers tuning in.
  • ReActivate grew out of our initial Covid-19 campaign, delivering a £200k project to help people return to work or restart their coaching, and reached over 24,000 people.
  • ReTrain, a £1.5m initiative to support employers retraining their teams to reopen facilities post-lockdown, was also launched.
  • We have produced 20+ guidance updates and translated government guidance for operators in all four home nations.
  • We published a new policy and supporting guidance to help independent practitioners to safely deliver online sport and physical activity sessions.
  • Our member webinar series saw over 4,000 attendees across 24 live webinars. 93% of viewers gave a 4- or 5-star rating for the content.
  • We offered members a payment holiday from March to July 2020 to support them through the early stages of the pandemic.
  • Our cash levels are healthy and our core funding from Sport England remains strong.
  • The CIMSPA Board of Trustees launched an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion statement of intent and plan to improve these areas across the Board and organisation.
  • Major projects still running include ReTrain to Retain, a £5m project giving support to 50,000 people returning to work; the Digital Marketing Hub, a £500k project with partners such as Google and the Digital Marketing Institute; and the NGB Digital Strategy, an extension of a £200k/year project to release funding directly into the sector.

Over the next year, we will continue to pivot to ensure that our members and partners continue to thrive in the sector. We expect to increase funding, grow membership and partnerships, reach across government, and collaborate with key industry partners to support the sector’s big-ticket items.
