CIMSPA leisure operations professional development committee starts work on first professional standards

The first meeting of the CIMSPA professional development committee (PDC) for the leisure operations took place this week at SportPark, Loughborough University.

CIMSPA’s employer-led PDCs exist to harness the abilities of industry exports in creating a sector-wide single set of job standards which will inform the development of high quality training and qualifications in the sector.

The committees will work on a cyclical basis, developing pairs of standards at a time – the first two standards under development by the leisure operations PDC are general manager and leisure attendant.

Speaking about the start of the committee’s work, Jeff Lynch, director of human resources, GLL and committee chair, said: “I’d like to thank my colleagues on the leisure operations PDC for their commitment to developing professional standards that will lead to consistency across qualifications and apprenticeships.”

“We had an excellent first meeting and intend to keep a high tempo in getting finished work out into the sector, to play our role in CIMSPA’s overall workforce improvement project.”

The next professional development committee to start its standards improvement work will be the exercise and fitness PDC.
