CIMSPA steps up professional standards pace with consultation on management, coaching and specialism standards
The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) has today (Monday 22 January) launched a partner and public consultation on the next phase of its development of the CIMSPA Professional Standards Matrix.
After extensive development, 8 new professional standards are now available for review and comment, covering management and coaching, as well as specialised standards on working in school environments, working with children and safeguarding.
CIMSPA is inviting all of its partners, members and the public to give feedback on the draft standards, to ensure they fully meet the sector’s needs.
CIMSPA, with support of its partners, facilitates and administers the standards development process on behalf of the sport and physical activity sector’s employer-led professional development board and committees. These 8 new standards are the work of the management, community sport and safeguarding professional development committees.
Speaking about the public consultation, Colin Huffen, CIMSPA Head of Education, commented: “It’s great to be both accelerating our sector improvement work and to be widening the standards project to include population, environment and technical specialisms. This consultation allows everyone with a stake in our sector’s future to ensure their perspective is included in this important work. We’ve set up a short online questionnaire for each standard and I would encourage all to contribute. We would like to thank the partners for their work so far, in particular UK Coaching, the Youth Sport Trust, UK Active Kids and the Child Protection in Sport Unit who have been critical to the progress in community sport”.
