Solent University award first CIMSPA Graduation Prize of 2019

CIMSPA are pleased to be celebrating the success of CIMSPA student member and Solent University graduate, Alice Oborne, on receiving the Contribution to Sport and Physical Education Award.

As part of this award, Alice received the first CIMSPA Graduation Prize of 2019. Alice graduated this academic year with a 1st Class Honours degree in Sport and Physical Education.

The CIMSPA Graduation Prize has been introduced, in partnership with our higher education partners, to award students who have achieved excellence in sport and physical activity-related degree programmes.

As the prize recipient, Alice has been given a CIMSPA graduate membership for one year, as she begins to chart her career path in sport and physical activity.

Dominic Cunliffe, Course Leader at Solent University, extended his congratulations to Alice and said:

“Alice has been a very intelligent student from the beginning of her time at Solent and has worked meticulously over the past three years, claiming the accolade as the highest achieving student (grade-wise), from all other cohorts since the inception of this course, culminating with a first class class honours degree to show for her endeavours.

“Alice has been able to comfortably thread the theory of physical education in to her understanding of professional practice, and the excellent reports received from a succession of placement schools is indicative of how Alice has woven her knowledge in to the practical delivery of physical education and school sport.”

Colin Huffen, Head of Regulation and Standards at CIMSPA commended Alice, commenting: “We are really pleased to have awarded our first graduation prize of 2019 to Alice.

“We are excited to support students from our higher education partners. Their commitment they have made during their time with their University makes them new and valued members of our sector.

“Providing this kind of recognition is exactly what our employer partners and the rest of the sector want and expect from CIMSPA. Solent University have been consistently engaged with our work as CIMSPA higher education partners, and are committed to driving student employability and challenging the current sector employability benchmarks.”

Congratulations to Alice and we look forward to seeing you progress through your CIMSPA membership and your future career pathway in the sport and physical activity sector.
