Wales Workforce Professional Development Board

The Wales Workforce Professional Development Board (Wales WPDB) has been established to ensure CIMSPA meets the needs of the Welsh sport and physical activity sector and puts its people at the centre of the picture.

The Sport and Physical Activity Sector Wales Workforce Professional Development Board (WPDB) works alongside the UK WPDB to ensure that the UK strategy is applied appropriately in Wales. The board consists of a diverse range of members from senior leadership positions across the sector including Sport Wales, employers, educational institutions, training providers, national governing bodies, Welsh sporting organisations, specialist in diversity and experts in health and Welsh policy. 

The board’s role 

The role of the Sport and Physical Activity Sector Wales Workforce Professional Development Board is to: 

  • align its aims and ambitions with ‘The Vision for Sport’ by working to diversify and support a more inclusive workforce 
  • highlight the importance of the sport and physical activity sector on the health and wellbeing of Wales and the people behind its impact 
  • develop comprehensive resources of data and insight to inform decision making at a local and national level 
  • embed quality and clear pathways in an education system fit for purpose throughout an individual’s career 
  • change the way that members of the sector workforce in Wales see themselves and their job roles 
  • encourage local sport and physical activity ecosystems to collaborate through local skills accountability boards.
