Midlands management board up for the challenge

The CIMSPA Midlands regional management board met at the institute’s home base at Loughborough University in the first week of November, for an afternoon of planning their 2016 work to deliver real personal development success for members in the Midlands region.

6 regional management board members joined chair Adam Hill on the day, together with CIMSPA CEO Tara Dillon and regional officer Anna Wilson.

With CIMSPA’s evolution continuing at breakneck speed, Tara Dillon gave the board a fresh update on the chartered institute’s developments, and how the nations and regions fit into these plans.

The meeting also considered the prospect of the new suite of management qualifications under development at the moment from CIMSPA – from aspiring manager level through to senior management. All were in agreement that a single, common set of progression qualifications for the sector was a real positive.

Chair Adam Hill also outlined his ideas for the region’s focus next year – he’s very keen to build engagement with sport and activity professionals across the Midlands and to provide high quality services for members at the local level. Likewise, the board members are keen to evangelise for the chartered institute “on the ground” at careers fairs, conventions and other sector events across the Midlands.

First up, will be a refresh of the Midlands region web content, with a higher tempo of updates planned as part of the overall local engagement plan. To achieve this, the board is keen for members to contribute with local intel, good news stories, people moves, new facility developments, as well as feedback on what members want from their regions and what they expect from their board.

They want Midlands members to feed in local intel- good news, what do you want from your region. What comms do you want? How would you like your board to act?

Overall, it was a very productive afternoon – the board fully understand that plans must turn into action, and that will be their immediate focus.
