CIMSPA CEO responds to the Prime Minister’s indication of gyms reopening in July

The Prime Minister today indicated that gyms should be able to reopen “in a couple of weeks” as he vowed to restart the sector coming out of the coronavirus lockdown.
Responding to the Prime Minister's statement, Tara Dillon, CEO of CIMSPA, said:
"We are encouraged that the Prime Minister today indicated that gyms might be able to open within “a couple of weeks”. The sector has worked extremely hard over many weeks to prepare for reopening in a safe way and with pubs, restaurants and other businesses opening from tomorrow, we believe the time is right to allow the fitness sector to reopen. It is a hugely important part of our economy, and equally important for the health and wellbeing of the nation. We look forward to official confirmation of a reopening date and working with the Government on the detailed guidance".
CIMSPA has several digital resources available to support the sector during the coronavirus crisis, including:
- ReOpen - an online hub offering guidance and resources to support the sector in reopening facilities, when permitted.
- Stronger Together Hub - a range of resources and advice to support businesses and individuals.
- Stronger Together Facebook Group - an open community for all those working in the sector.
