CIMSPA team grows as chartered institute expands

Two new staff have joined the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) as the chartered institute continues its UK-wide sport and activity sector workforce improvement project.

Ian Doherty is the new CIMSPA client services manager, and his work will focus on developing and strengthening existing partnerships, as well as forging new relationships and ensuring CIMSPA’s products and services match sector needs. Ian formerly worked at IQL UK as national programme manager.

Danielle Peel, who also joins CIMSPA from IQL UK where she was a business development manager, has taken up the post of CIMSPA project and policy manager. Her role will be to manage CIMSPA’s project work, aligning the chartered institute’s activity with delivering key goals from both the government’s 2015 sport strategy and the recent Sport England strategy, for the benefit of the whole sector.

Commenting on the new starters, Tara Dillon, CIMSPA CEO said: “I’d like to welcome both Danielle and Ian to our staff team.

“Both the government’s ‘Sporting Future’ strategy and Sport England’s ‘Towards and Active Nation” strategy have tasked CIMSPA with delivering a professional sector workforce, and these appointments will enhance CIMSPA’s ability to meet these asks.”
