Delivering Sport and Physical Activity Online Policy

Working with leading sector partners CIMSPA have developed this policy to define and enable good practice – supporting independent practitioners across the UK to keep delivering and keep the nation active.

The use of online delivery platforms has been a valuable resource for practitioners to continue to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to providing a cost-effective method to maintain participation and help promote health and wellbeing. Whilst CIMSPA has seen practitioners adapt and excel in their resourcefulness to continue operating using online delivery, there are many factors to consider ensuring both the safety of both participants and that practitioners are “qualified to deliver.” The policy and guidance have been developed in consultation with the sector to support its workforce to maintain professional operation which promotes the benefits of sport and physical activity.

The policy

This Delivering Sport and Physical Activity Online policy outlines the key requirements of practitioners operating in the online environment to help the implementation of correct safety measures. The policy covers:

  • Live online sessions.
  • Pre-recorded private online sessions.
  • Pre-recorded publicly available online sessions.
  • Open social sport and physical activity sessions

The key requirements to ensure participant and practitioner safety when delivering sport and physical activity online are also covered by this policy.

There is supporting guidance to assist in the understanding of this policy along with useful resources which can be found below.
