"Developing Others" – CIMSPA Academy course spotlight

In this bulletin we’re taking a closer look at “Developing Others” – just one of over 30 study options available from the new CIMSPA Academy – the home of eLearning for members.

The Developing Others CPD course awards 4 CIMSPA-developmental CPD points – up to half of most members’ annual CPD requirements.

Developing others

The ability to develop others is central to any manager's role. Effective managers will use a range of techniques to bring out the best in their team. They understand that developing capability and skills will help to ensure that their team is motivated and engaged.

So, this CPD choice is ideal for anyone who manages a team in the workspace – from supervisor through duty manager to more senior leadership roles, or those with an interest in coaching.

The course opens with an overview of understanding how people learn, key learning theories, and setting learning objectives. This is presented as eBriefings – self-contained eLearning blocks. There are 7 compulsory eBriefings with content quizzes to reinforce learning, plus one elective eBriefing with a choice of 4 subjects on offer.

The tutorial part of the certificate is very extensive with 16 content choices, from which learners must pick 12 to be assessed on. The tutorials cover a lot of ground – mentoring, giving critical feedback, improving staff learning and building confidence in others are just a few of the options on offer. We’re hoping that “Motivate for a happy workforce” will be a popular choice!

As with the other CIMSPA Academy eLearning, there are optional assignments which, if completed, open up the possibility of merit and distinction grades for those members who go the extra mile.

What is a Cookie

Log files
