UK Coaching launches Safeguarding Adults e-learning course with CIMSPA backing
This is the first course to be endorsed against our ‘Safeguarding Adults and Adults at Risk (Technical Specialism)’ Professional Standard.
UK Coaching’s online course will give participants the knowledge and confidence to safeguard adults at their sessions, including those identified as ‘at risk’.
CIMSPA’s endorsement means those studying the course will be able to go through it knowing the online course is measured against sector-led professional standards and is supported by the sector’s only chartered professional body. We’re determined to ensure the availability of quality and relevant learning and development opportunities throughout the sport and physical activity sector.
The course launches to coincide with Safeguarding Adults Week. This week is designed to raise awareness of how important it is to look after any adults in your care.
The course will help participants to:
- Support the welfare of all adults at your sessions.
- Recognise abuse and potential signs of abuse.
- Gain insight into how to manage and deal with safeguarding concerns by following the four ‘Rs’ of safeguarding.
- Recognise poor practice.
- Think about creating positive, safe environments for the people at your sessions.
- Learn the six principles of safeguarding adults.
It has been developed in collaboration with Ann Craft Trust, the leading UK authority on safeguarding disabled young people and adults at risk.

“Legislation in the Care Act 2014 introduced additional types of abuse and reporting guidance that coaches need to be aware of and which may differ to safeguarding children, as adults often face different challenges. Organisations and individuals must work to prevent abuse from occurring, and be prepared to respond proportionately if abuse or neglect does occur.
