Aspiring Manager members are employed in the sport and physical activity sector in a team leader, coordinator or supervisor position and do not have management experience or responsibilities in their current role.
- You may also be a lifeguard, swimming teacher, coach, administrator, gym instructor or in community sport and have aspirations to fulfil management responsibilities in the future.
- You have been introduced to the key themes and principles of management.
- You have developed a basic understanding across a range of management related topics which can provide a basis for progression to a managerial role.
- You have demonstrated skills and show potential to move beyond your current technical role.
Entry requirements
- Your endorsed qualification which meets the Aspiring Manager professional standard dated within the last 5 years and CV.
- Alternatively, your CV covering responsibilities within your most recent role and any CPD undertaken.
- Referee details (see FAQs below).

- How do I identify if my qualification meets the professional standard for a management occupation?

If you have successfully met the professional standard following completion of your CIMSPA endorsed course and met the Management Professional Standard(s), your Professional Qualification certificate issued by CIMSPA and awarded by your institute will clearly confirm this.
If you are unsure whether your qualification meets the professional standards, please email a copy of it and your CV to info@cimspa.co.uk for review.
There are 2 application routes into Management membership as outlined within the Entry Requirements above to ensure those with and without an endorsed qualification can be rewarded and recognised.
Your CV is required for both routes to ensure that your experience to date can also be reviewed, considered and recognised.
