Newman University

Newman is a distinctive university. A place where you will be welcomed, encouraged and challenged. An institution in which you will explore new academic avenues and develop your potential. A place where you will have the opportunity to grow.

Named after the nineteenth-century thinker John Henry Newman, we take inspiration from his philosophy that a university should be a place where every individual is supported to fulfil their academic and personal potential.

As well as striving for academic excellence, our aim is to make our students more caring and resourceful; creative and independent thinkers who want to make society a better place upon their graduation.
This belief, that the education of the whole person creates a more rounded and adaptable individual, is what makes Newman different.

We are proud of our diversity and inclusion. Our doors are open to every faith, culture and social background. We see beyond labels and look to make the most of the person within.

Newman is a safe and inclusive place where faith, personal advancement and educational attainment are viewed equally.
A place geared to preparing you for the future world of work.
A university where you can discover a better future and a better you.

Your opportunity. Your community. Your university.

This is a brand new addition to the Newman Sport portfolio for 2019. It not only offers a fresh and relevant curriculum for the modern sport student, it has been specifically designed to equip students with the skills needed for academic and vocational success both ‘on’ and ‘off’ the sports field. The ‘development’ strand focuses on aspects of sports management, sport sociology, sport policy and sport events, while the ‘coaching’ strand develops an understanding of established and innovative grassroots, community and elite coaching techniques and leadership styles. It is the evolution of former successful courses, BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching Science and BA (hons) Sport and Exercise Studies.
