ReActivate

Returning to sport and physical activity with confidence.

About the project

As gyms and leisure and sports facilities prepared to reopen in Summer 2020, CIMSPA insight identified that 40% of the workforce had some degree of apprehension about returning. Our role was to give them the support they need to return with confidence and create a safe environment for the public.

ReActivate was created to meet this need  – a free online training platform, designed to equip anyone working or volunteering in the sport, fitness, leisure and physical activity sector in England with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently return to work or restart their coaching activity.

  • The programme allowed participants to earn a digital certificate, which could be upgraded to a recognised qualification.
  • ReActivate was designed and delivered by CIMSPA in July 2020, working with Future Active Workforce CIC, Right Directions, Sport Structures, GM Active and Transcend Awards. Funding was provided by Sport England.
  • More than 22,000 people used the ReActivate platform, and a survey found that 93% of participants felt an increased level of confidence about returning to their roles after completing the training.

The ReActivate project has been reimagined in line with sector needs, and is now ReEngage.

CIMSPA designed and delivered this project as part of our Stronger Together Covid-19 support strategy, funded by Sport England, on behalf of the sport and physical activity sector.
