Our sector support workWithin weeks of the first lockdown starting in Spring 2020, CIMSPA started planning for supporting the sector to reopen its operational facility base across sport, leisure and fitness.Reopening frameworkOur work was aligned with the national framework for reopening fitness facilities, developed by ukactive, CIMSPA and partners.Webinars and clinicsOur partners Right Directions held multiple online clinics to advise on safe reopening and produced a comprehensive overview of a facility reopening management process.Inclusive reopeningOur ReOpen support stressed inclusivity by encouraging operators to apply the advice published by Activity Alliance on engaging with disabled people during the reopening phase.
Customer information postersCIMSPA produced a range of customer information poster templates for operators to use – covering social distancing, cleaning and one-way systems – in both English and Welsh. DOWNLOAD .ZIP
Swimming and swim teaching reopeningWe curated the latest guidance for swimming pool operators and swim schools from RLSS UK, STA and Swim England.Cleaning and hygieneWe signposted the excellent Sport England guidance to help organisations implement good hygiene across their facilities simply and effectively.Sports governing bodiesWe signposted our sector to the sport-specific guidance produced by over 35 national governing bodies of sport across the UK, as well as to national-specific advice provided by home country sports councils.“Reopening our people”Our ReActivate online training programme helped people return to work with confidenceThe first phase of our ReTrain programme identified and worked to fill key skills gaps with employers.AcknowledgementsCIMSPA would, in particular, like to thank the following organisations for their help with providing these resources and other reopening resources:EMD UKRight DirectionsCC LeisureGladstone SoftwareTA6
