The Queens Hotel in Leeds was the venue for a spectacular evening, one befitting of the truly outstanding effort all our graduates have put in to becoming the inaugural recipients of this remarkable accolade.
What is ‘Chartered High Performance Coach’ status?
The Chartered High Performance Coach status was formed following recommendations by the Professional Development Committee for High Performance Sport, who identified a Chartered pathway for High Performance Coach, aligning with our ambition for all Team GB coaches at the 2028 Olympics to have achieved Chartered status.
This also coincided with the committee’s work in developing the ‘Coaching in High Performance Sport’ Professional Standard, which sets out the minimum standard for an individual to work in a high-performance environment.
Being Chartered means that our six graduates have demonstrated a level of professional excellence, against a benchmark set out by his Majesties Privy Council, the highest level of skill or competence in a particular field.
Such a status acknowledges the exceptional quality and elevated level of expertise in planning and delivering services within the high-performance environment and recognises the tangible impact this has on people’s lives and the sport and physical activity industry as a whole.
Having acquired the pinnacle of professional recognition, all graduates can now call themselves a Chartered High Performance Coach and have the right to use Chartered Post nominal letters after their name.
