January – Cultivating a Healthy Mindset for Exercise & Movement
In this webinar we were joined by Dan Hancock, founder of Mental Health & Exercise Coaching (MHEC), a 3-star ‘Enhancing’ quality assured CIMSPA training provider partner that specialise in teaching early mental health intervention through exercise.
During this session Dan focused on various mental health conditions, talking about progressive solutions to support people experiencing poor mental health, and offering guidance for looking after your own mental health whist supporting others.


February – Physical Activity’s Role in Mental Illness Prevention and Treatment
In the second part of our mental health series, we heard
from Dr Brendon Stubbs who shared his latest ground-breaking research which has revolutionised the understanding of physical activity’s role in mental health prevention and treatment.
Ranked among the top 0.1% of researchers worldwide in mental
health and neuroscience since 2019, Dr Stubbs has authored over 800 international academic papers and is recognised by Expertscape as one of the top three global authorities in exercise science.
His expertise has been sought by prestigious organisations
worldwide, including the World Health Organisation, NHS England and the World Psychiatric Association, plus tennis champions Iga Świątek and Novak Djokovic.
March – Female Health & Performance 101
Rachel Frances Thomson, a pioneering female founder of Biomechanics Education, was our guest speaker for this session on female health and performance.
In this 101 session, Rachel explored the unique physiological considerations of female health across different life stages, from hormonal fluctuations to strength programming.
She also provided practical insights and evidence-based strategies to support women’s health, well-being, and physical performance.


April – Working with Children
We were joined by Clare Roberts, Strategic Lead for Foundations and Participation at Sport Wales and Dr Nalda Wainwright, Associate Professor for Health and Physical Literacy at the University of Wales Trinity St David (UWTSD) to look at cross sector evidence-based approaches to working with children that supports the sport and physical activity workforce.
This webinar also focused on the need for a good practice guide, appreciating the role of stakeholders in the creation of a cross-sector framework and the importance of consistency in good practice.
It also looked at the latest research on children’s motor development and the implications for practice, including a look at what the evidence and research tells us about the importance of motor development in early childhood to support sport and physical activity.
May – Progressing your career in sport and physical activity
In this webinar we were joined by Rowan Morgan-Ruffley, director of RMR – Rehabilitation Ltd to hear all about his career journey and how he built a successful business specialising in adaptive personal training for individuals with complex needs.
As part of this webinar, our Careers Hub Manager Catherine Kane introduced the new CIMSPA Careers Hub, a platform that is dedicated to helping individuals find the right training to develop their skills and build a great career in the sport and physical activity sector.


June – The Business of Fitness – Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Income
This member webinar looked at strategies for sustainable growth and driving income generation with Your Personal Trainer (YPT); our 3-star Enhancing Partner.
In today’s competitive fitness industry, as well as being a great trainer you need to be a marketer, an expert in client relationships, an accountant, and much more.
Led by Oliver Kerr, National Support Manager at YPT, and joined by personal trainer James Pittam, this session equipped delegates with proven strategies, insider tips, and real-world examples to help you stand out and succeed.
July – Getting children and young people active
Led by Lauren Delday from Aspire Active, this session looked at how we can engage children and young people in physical activity and inspire active lives.
The webinar taught attendees how to audit workforce skills and access government funding for professional development, whilst also covering accessing apprenticeship levy funding, including unspent levy opportunities available to all organisations, skills gap analysis across PE curriculum areas, strategic workforce planning, and succession planning.


August – Offering accessible and inclusive opportunities to tackle inequality
Focusing on tackling inequalities in sport and activities, this webinar taught attendees how to meet disabled people’s needs as well as how this can benefit the wider sector.
Jake Netherway, Senior Research and Insight Advisor at Activity Alliance, talked through a recently published report on inequalities in sport and activities that was drawn from five years’ worth of data. As part of this, Jake painted a picture of participation levels of disabled people and the barriers they face in accessing sports and activities.
Activity Alliance’s Workforce Lead, Helen Newberry, then discussed how the wider sector can benefit from ensuring they are offering accessible and inclusive opportunities as well as ways to upskill individuals and organisations to enable this.
September – The Human Advantage of Soft Skills for a Global Stage
This member webinar focused on how authenticity, empathy, and emotional intelligence powers modern leadership.
Led by FitPro Executive Director Teresa Wheatley, this session taught delegates how to apply soft skills to strengthen client relationships, lead teams, and adapt to an evolving global landscape, plus explore how you can develop practical strategies to elevate your professional impact.


September – Gain the recognition you deserve with professional status
During this session attendees learnt all about professional status, from how it is earned and the requirements needed to maintain it, to the career progression opportunities it will present and the tools, such as postnominals, that will help you communicate it.
This webinar also focused on everything digital accreditation credentials, also known as digital badges, including how they function, how a stakeholder can securely verify your status, how they will instil trust and confidence in your level of expertise and experience within your role, and ultimately how you can utilise them to showcase your status as a professional within our sector and gain the recognition you deserve.
October – People Living with Dementia, Planning for I Can©
This webinar focused on people living with dementia, and how to take the first step into deepening your inclusive practice.
During this session delegates learnt more about how to create inclusive, engaging, and meaningful physical activity opportunities for people living with dementia.
As part of this session we discussed participation, common barriers to inclusion, and the right next steps practitioners can take to adapt sessions to meet individual needs.


November – From Data to Practice: What’s Shaping Sport & Physical Activity Right Now?
This session unpacked the key forces shaping the sport, fitness, and physical activity sector today, and what you can expect as we look ahead to 2026.
As well as the latest fitness trends and customer behaviours, this webinar looked at workforce participation and community impact, technology and innovation, and the evolving policy and sector landscape.
