AoC Sport signs new partnership agreement with CIMSPA

The partnership agreement will see the two organisations work together to help improve communication between colleges, employers and Awarding Bodies, creating a sector-wide consensus on the skills, qualifications, knowledge and experience for different job roles in the industry.

AoC Sport Managing Director, Marcus Kingwell, said: “The partnership between AoC Sport and CIMSPA is very exciting in terms of the quality of service we can provide our members.

“Our expertise, along with that of CIMSPA, will enable us to grow sport and physical activity in colleges, assist them with community links, help create partnerships with National Governing Bodies, improve facilities and enhance learning and workforce development, among other things.

“This is a great opportunity for each of AoC Sport, CIMSPA and colleges.”

Spencer Moore, CIMSPA’s Director of Development, said: “We are extremely excited to be working in partnership with AoC Sport.

“CIMSPA has a clear role in developing young leaders and professionals for the sector, and by working with AoC Sport we have the perfect partner in which support and influence FE colleges and the 80,000 students who study at them on an annual basis.

“The plans that we have jointly developed will bring the employers and colleges closer together and ensure that more students leave Further Education with the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers require.”

CIMSPA was awarded charter status in 2012 and is the recognised professional body for the sport and physical activity sector in the UK.

The organisation provides leadership, support and empowerment for professionals working in sport and physical activity, and has two long term priorities: to provide opportunities to young leaders to develop, and to provide leadership on the development of career pathways.

AoC Sport is the lead organisation for sport and physical activity in colleges. A subsidiary company of the Association of Colleges, AoC Sport’s vision is for every student to participate regularly in sport or physical activity, to achieve significant benefits in terms of education, employment and health.
