CIMSPA welcomes new consultation on strengthening sport across the country

The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity has welcomed today’s announcement by Sports Minister Tracey Crouch of a public consultation on sport in the UK.

Commenting on the announcement, Tara Dillon, CIMSPA CEO, said “CIMSPA is looking forward to engaging with this consultation and playing its part in the development of this country’s new strategy for sport.

“We’re particularly pleased that government has chosen to include workforce and governance as a distinct theme of the consultation. Our current work on developing an employer-led workforce skills strategy and co-ordinating the physical activity trailblazer’s first apprenticeship standards means that CIMSPA has a valuable perspective to offer, as the sector’s single chartered professional body.

“Our members – who manage and operate the UK’s sports facilities and participation programmes – are ready to meet the challenge of using sport and activity to create an active, healthy and cohesive nation.”

The public consultation will run for just under nine weeks, until Friday October 2. It marks the start of the government working on a new strategy for sport in this country.

The sports sector and interested public can access the consultation paper, including an online response form via the www.gov.uk website
