Nuffield Health welcomed as CIMSPA’s 50th employer partner

The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity has welcomed Nuffield Health as both CIMSPA’s 50th employer partner and as a skills development partner.

The partnership represents an important milestone for CIMSPA’s workforce development project as, with over 350 facilities (including fitness and wellbeing gyms, corporate fitness & wellbeing centres and hospitals), Nuffield Health are one of the leading not-for-profit healthcare organisations in the UK.

Over 1500 Nuffield Health staff, mainly personal trainers, will transfer into CIMSPA’s exercise and fitness membership over the coming year, and will be listed on the CIMSPA exercise and fitness directory (LINKS TO CIMSPA DIRECTORIES PAGE) – the only register that fitness professionals need to be on.

The Nuffield Health Academy, Nuffield Health’s unique in-house training academy, will also be registered as a CIMSPA skills development partner, allowing the academy’s staff training and CPD offer to be recognised by the sector’s chartered institute.

Speaking about the news, CIMSPA CEO Tara Dillon said: “I’m delighted that Nuffield Health have committed to a strong and multi-dimensional partnership with CIMSPA. They are a unique employer in our sector, with expertise and reach from fitness through wellbeing to healthcare, and have an admirable approach to investing in and developing their staff team.

“This is a huge leap forward for our work, and demonstrates the increasing momentum CIMSPA has built up through our employer partnerships. In just one year, employers representing 60,000 staff have committed to keeping their workforce development within the CIMSPA ecosystem of recognised awarding organisations, training providers and education partners.”

Rick Crawford, Nuffield Health Fitness Director said: “At Nuffield Health we place great emphasis on the professional development of our employees, and we are therefore delighted to announce a new partnership with CIMSPA. As one of the UK’s largest not-for-profit healthcare organisations we strive to deliver high quality services which are effective in helping our members, clients and patients achieve the best level of health, fitness and wellbeing that they possibly can.

“By partnering with CIMSPA we will continue to be at the forefront of the industry when it comes to developing the standards that we as an operator require from current and future fitness employees. A higher standard of fitness professional brings with it many benefits, and in particular the opportunity to work more closely with our clinical colleagues, enabling a more preventative approach to health and wellbeing. We will continue to invest in the education and continued professional development of our fitness employees via our unique Nuffield Health Academy and becoming a CIMSPA skills development partner means that our fitness workforce will remain up-to-date and best in class.”

CIMSPA’s client services team will now work with Nuffield Health to educate and inform their staff as to the details of the partnership.

To further strengthen the partnership, from December 2016 all relevant Nuffield Health job descriptions and person specifications will state a preference that applicants should already be CIMSPA members.
