CIMSPA Professional Standards Framework continues to extend

We are pleased to announce the release of two new Professional Standards Specialisms: Working with Antenatal and Postnatal Clients and Working in the Community Environment.

These new standards add to the CIMSPA Professional Standards library which now contains 27 Professional Standards and Specialisms respectively.

These new Professional Standards are available to CIMSPA partners. They will then be able to submit their education products for CIMSPA endorsement and CPD assessment. These standards raise the bar in our sector, ensuring our members are the most qualified and employable in their fields.

The Working with Antenatal and Postnatal Clients specialism focuses on people looking for guidance from a sport and physical activity professional when exercising pre and post pregnancy. The specialism will help ensure that instructor training covers all safety, health and specificities for the job.

Many of our professionals work at a community level; whether that is as a coach or a group exercise instructor. The Working in the Community Environment Professional Standard covers all job roles that involve community based sport and physical activity and outlines the practical understanding needed to truly engage with local people.

The new standards were developed by sector employers and supported by education partners and other national organisations. The implementation of these standards into qualifications and CPD will help simplify career progression for those wishing to enter or progress within the requisite parts of the sector.

These specialisms represent CIMSPA’s work in guaranteeing minimum deployment standards across every role within the sport and physical activity sector, no matter the location of the activity or the population taking part.

The publication of these standards further cements CIMSPA’s promise to create clear career pathways for the workforce, whilst ensuring that employers have access to the highest quality staff members.
