Get involved in the new Sport Officials Apprenticeship Standard and interest group

CIMSPA are pleased to announce the development of a new apprenticeship standard for Sport Officials. We are now looking for individuals from across the sector to participate in the development of this standard as part of a new CIMSPA interest group.

We have been contacted by a number of national governing bodies who are looking to explore the development of a sport official apprenticeship that could be used across all sports.

It has been identified that there needs to be more formalised learning and development for sport officials. There is also a greater need for officials at the professional level of sport, as well as the need to provide a career pathway through other levels of the competition journey.

The development of this apprenticeship standard would support the career development of sport officials, providing these formalised learning and development pathways, and will hopefully provide an increased number of apprentices for the sector, combatting the high demand within this area.

This group will be ideally formed of a minimum of 10 employers and governing bodies that have a keen interest in developing the sport official apprenticeship. The group is for both those that employ sport officials directly and those with an interest in sports officiating or work in a related area.

To submit your interest in joining the interest group for the Sport Official Apprenticeship Standard, or for more information, please contact our Education and Apprenticeship Officer Natasha Eason (contact details below).
