Changes to qualification endorsement from 30 September 2020

CIMSPA position statement

CIMSPA have reached an important milestone in our sector’s continued development as a respected profession

As per the roadmap we’ve been working through in partnership with you, our training provider partners – from 30 September 2020 we will only endorse qualifications mapped to CIMSPA professional and apprenticeship standards.

Reaching this milestone ensures that employers can have confidence that all qualifications delivered within the sector is fit for purpose, up to date and maps to industry minimum deployment standards.

Our sector is now at the point where there are professional standards – built by the sector, for the sector – in place that represent most of the sector’s occupations and jobs roles, to fully support members’ career progression.

The aim of the professional standards project has always been to allow employers to work with awarding organisations, ensuring that all qualifications delivered within the sector are fit for purpose, up to date and map to industry minimum deployment standards. This has been the process over the last two years, with the CIMSPA professional standards framework expanding to 33 now published.

We are now in a position where there are professional standards that represent most of the sector’s occupations and jobs roles and support members careers progression.

From 30 September, CIMSPA will now remove its endorsement of qualifications that do not align to our professional standards in England. This will give employers a clear and unambiguous overview of sector education excellence, thus meeting the ask they made of us.

The CIMSPA standards and regulation team will be on hand to continue to help training provider partners to align their education offer to these standards, through your partnership key contact.

Your awarding organisation should have been in contact with you to discuss this milestone and should be able to provide more information on the process of switching qualifications to the CIMSPA professional standards. Please contact them with any questions about the current delivery of qualifications. This position statement clarifies CIMSPA’s position and its relationship with Pilates instructors and training providers.
