Holistic health and wellbeing and the role of chartered professionals

It’s widely acknowledged that as a powerful tool for improving health and wellbeing, physical activity has a crucial role in supporting recovery from and aiding the management of various health conditions.

Whether it be cardiovascular health, chronic diseases, mental health conditions, rehabilitation and recovery from operative care, weight management, or a range of other health related issues, there is extensive research that shows how appropriate physical activity can have far reaching positive outcomes for patients.

With the immense pressure on the NHS and over-stretched resources across the public health infrastructure, CIMSPA is continuing to highlight the incredibly positive contribution that sport and physical activity professionals are making to individuals and communities.

Many of our chartered members are specifically working in roles focused on supporting participants with long-term health conditions or recovery.

Our members tell us that their chartered status has played an important role in supporting their work, helping them to establish greater credibility with allied health professionals across other sectors and to demonstrate their extensive experience and specialist practice.

If you are an experienced manager or activity health practitioner who is currently working or aspiring to work in this area, you should consider becoming a Chartered professional.

“Chartered status is the highest level of professional achievement within the sector and individuals should aspire to provide the best possible outcome for those they work with. Those working in health and clinical exercise are increasingly associated with allied health professionals who are referring to our services more than ever before. Allied health professionals require confidence and quality to establish credibility and to work effectively as a team in a clinical exercise environment.” David Langford MCIMSPA(ch)

Chartered status is highly sought after and valued by employers as it demonstrates that as a professional you have delivered excellence, innovation and impact through your work.

Our Chartered members tell us that the assessment to become chartered helps them to rediscover knowledge and skills, gives them new opportunities for professional development and increases their confidence.

Chartered members find that their status provides increased opportunities for growing and developing the work that they do particularly in specialist support as the professional recognition that their status gives them helps to open doors with future employers and allied professionals such as GPs and others working in healthcare.
