It’s time to take action on workplace mental health
CIMSPA are pleased to announce that we have signed the Good Work Pledge
In response to the findings in the Workplace Mental Wealth’s 2021 Fitness and Active Leisure Workforce State of Mind Survey, we’re backing the launch of the The Good Work Pledge.
The pledge is a way for employers to take clear action to show their commitment to employee mental health and work towards meeting the government-backed framework for employers. With mental health becoming increasingly important, especially in the last year, CIMSPA is pleased to back a forward thinking pledge for the workplace.
Named so because the characteristics of ‘good work’ can help prevent new mental health problems developing, it also indicates clear support for those with mental health conditions to do well at work and thrive.
“Now we have an official commitment to take positive action that supports mental wellbeing in the workplace from such a diverse array of employers, we very much hope others will follow.” says Lindsey Simpson, Co-Founder of Workplace Mental Wealth and The Good Work Pledge.
“Supporting mental as well as physical wellbeing is not only good for employees, it’s also good for business. At Workplace Mental Wealth, we will continue to shine a light on mental health, providing insight and services to support employers, driving happiness, health and prosperity.”
Tara Dillion CEO, CIMSPA, says: “Our talented and committed workforce, like the rest of the world, is just emerging from a pandemic that has disruptive lives on a level that most of us have never known before.
“Everyone’s experience has been different and everyone will need different support as we start our recovery drive. It is important that, as employers we adopt a holistic approach to employee wellbeing, placing mental health on a par with physical health. The Good Work Pledge is a great way to unite together and declare a commitment to drive happiness, health and prosperity.”
As the sector’s professional body we’re happy to support the pledge. It’s good for businesses, for the sector workforce and for the customers we serve.
Others can take the pledge too. Taking the pledge includes:
- An action plan guide
- A diagnostic tool
- Use of The Good Work Pledge logo to show your commitment
- A listing on Workplace Mental Wealth’s website as a pledge signatory
You’ll be making a public statement about your positive intentions around your employee’s mental wellbeing. You’ll be more likely to take action and get noticed for showing leadership.
