CIMSPA endorses dance and fitness degree

BSc (Hons) Dance and Fitness paired to three fitness professional standards

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), a CIMSPA Higher Education partner, has endorsed their dance and fitness degree against the Gym, Personal Trainer and Group Exercise professional standards.

The BSc (Hons) Dance and Fitness degree gives students the opportunity to build on their passion of dance and hone their skills in a variety of exercise and fitness industry focused areas.

The degree has been carefully planned to provide students with the current skills to manage a successful career in dance. Whether that be through teaching, performing, choreography, or working within the dance industries in other supportive or creative roles.

Buckinghamshire New University understands the importance of dancers being able to look after their bodies and so dance science and exercise is embedded fully within their degree programme.

The dance and fitness industries have worked closely over the years. Endorsing their degree through CIMSPA allows them to ensure their dancers have the opportunity to gain valuable professional skills and qualifications to deliver safe, effective and innovative fitness and exercise sessions within the sport and physical activity sector.

Helen Hiley MCIMSPA, Education Officer for Higher Education at CIMSPA, said:

“This is an exciting opportunity for the sport and physical activity sector. Dance fits right at home in the sport and physical activity sector and this degree programme goes to show two different industries can work together through CIMSPA to provide students with the professional skills and qualifications they need after graduation.”

Lauren Vincent, Course Leader for BSc (hons) Dance and Fitness, said: “Here at BNU we are proud to be a CIMSPA Higher Education partner. Gaining endorsement from CIMSPA highlights that our degree programmes are industry focused and meet the professional standards for work in the fitness industry, as well as meeting the standards of academia for higher education learning. We are confident that our students have great skills and knowledge and being part of CIMSPA will provide employers with that confidence also”.
