Upcoming changes to the CIMSPA Member Code of Conduct

Important update to the CIMSPA Member Code of Conduct will be coming into effect soon

The Code of Conduct is a cornerstone of your membership and of your professional status. It sets out the standards that clients, customers, participants, peers, colleagues and employers can expect to experience from a CIMSPA member, regardless of their category or status.

In recent months we’ve listened to our members to understand how you feel about the Code of Conduct, and that feedback has helped to shape the new Code, with the intention of making it more usable and useful to you.

The new Code of Conduct will be coming into effect soon, but you can click here to view it now. Please do take some time to read it and let us know if you have any questions.

The safety of participants is at the heart of our Code and, in light of recent reports such as the Whyte Review into gymnastics and the Sheldon report in football, it has never been more important. It’s also important for all of our members to be aware of other recent developments such as the change in the law regarding positions of trust and a new campaign to make leisure spaces safe and inclusive for all women. Through being aware of and adhering to our Code of Conduct, you will be helping to make participating in sport and physical activity a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

This Code belongs to you, our members, and we hope you’ll view it in the same way we do: as a proactive tool to support you in maintaining your high standards and reinforcing recognition of your professionalism.

When the new Code is launched, we also plan to share some of the key details with the wider sector and general public, helping them to clearly see the value that comes from working with a qualified and professional CIMSPA member. Please look out for that on our social channels and help us to spread the word!
