National Fitness Day 2023
We are pleased to support National Fitness Day 2023 and the role of physical activity in the UK’s wellbeing.
We are pleased to support National Fitness Day 2023 on Wednesday 20th September, organised by our partners ukactive. National Fitness Day aims to raise awareness of the role that physical activity plays in supporting people across the UK to lead healthier lifestyles.
The theme of National Fitness Day this year is ‘Your Health is Your Life’. Whilst the one-day event has proven to have a hugely positive impact, this year, it is about a sustained focus on continued physical activity for participants. Getting people active on day one is the first step but keeping them active for the rest of their lives is the main goal.
For the first time, the National Fitness Day kick-off will be held in Manchester and ukactive have partnered with Prehab4Cancer to stage a live workout with patients at Salford Sports Village. Other partners include men’s mental health charity Movember and Endurance Zone, both aiming to use sport and physical activity to change lives.
With health as a key priority, National Fitness Day shows the continued and growing importance of sport and physical activity in the health and wellbeing of the nation. As highlighted in the Government’s latest strategy Get Active: A strategy for the future of sport and physical activity, the sport and physical activity workforce has a pivotal role in providing opportunities for people from all communities to become more active.
Tara Dillon, CEO, CIMSPA said: “We’re always pleased to support National Fitness Day.
The focus this year on health and the benefits of engaging in sustainable physical activity is great.
At a time when the NHS is under immense pressure, championing the benefits of physical activity in terms of helping to prevent health conditions and aiding recovery, has never been more important.
CIMSPA members play a crucial role in helping people across the country, in a range of communities, to access and engage in physical activity and to realise all of the benefits.
We’re immensely proud to support and represent the sport and physical activity professionals who are helping people to lead healthy, active lives. We are pleased to continue sharing the health and wellbeing benefits of their work on this National Fitness Day and beyond.”
