Supporting careers advice delivery in sport and physical activity

We’re delighted to be launching a new package of support for education providers which will enable them to better help learners who are looking to start a career in the sport and physical activity sector.

At CIMSPA, we know that the fantastic array of work opportunities in the sport and physical activity sector can be challenging to fully understand. In our fast-moving sector, new opportunities appear regularly and the pathways and learning opportunities connected to roles are always evolving.

We also know the important role that education and careers guidance professionals play in supporting people who are looking to start a career in sport and physical activity. They help both young people and career changers to understand their options and signpost them to opportunities.

Our new package of support includes training, resources and a structured programme of content which can be delivered to learners.

“We regularly hear from experienced education professionals who are delivering a S&PA curriculum that they would benefit from more support to enable them to develop this vital part of their work.

“That’s why we’ve developed this toolkit. It provides a comprehensive set of resources, ready built and tailored to the local context, which will help them to engage their learners in a deeper understanding of the fantastic, long-term career opportunities right across the sector.

“We’ve been really pleased to have worked with employers to shape these resources as it helps to ensure that they give a realistic view of career development within sport and physical activity today and into the future.

“The programme that we have developed aligns with the Gatsby Benchmarks, the recognised framework for world-class careers guidance provision, helping to ensure that it supports people in making informed decisions about their career.”
