Making professional recognition a reality through professional status

The S&PA workforce is now approximately 600,000 strong and our insights consistently reveal the same singular truth, that you want to be recognised for the great work you do, by your peers, employers, the public and professionals in other sectors.

Through our new strategy ‘Releasing the Power of our Profession', we will create professional status awards for you, our sector’s workforce, ensuring you are professionally recognised for your expertise and competence by a professional regulatory body.

Tara Dillon

CIMSPA CEO

Your professional status will be based on your associated professional recognition pathway and serves to demonstrate and communicate your level of formally recognised knowledge, skills, and experience.

So, for example, the Personal Trainer Practitioner professional recognition pathway will have five core levels of professional status, aligned with our royal charter and statutes. You’ll be recognised as either a Practitioner, Advanced Practitioner, Senior Practitioner, Chartered Practitioner or Advanced Chartered Practitioner, dependent on your formally recognised credentials.

Professional status awards will offer a powerful acknowledgement of those who invest in their career. It will serve to elevate professionals who are committed to learning and aiding their ongoing development, and as such will recognise how they consistently add value to their careers and the wider sport and physical activity sector.

Keep an eye out over the coming months for more on our professional status awards and how we’ll help you communicate these to ensure you get the recognition you deserve and need.
